Highlights from the 11th Monaco Energy Boat Challenge
Last week, we had the pleasure of participating in the 11th Monaco Energy Boat Challenge organized by the Yacht Club de Monaco, proudly mentoring Team PoliTo H2Fly from Politecnico di Torino University, Italy.
What a great event it was, with 450 students from 40 universities across 25 countries and many industry peers present in Monaco. Besides supporting our student team in the paddock, we attended conferences, round tables, tech talks, and networking events.
Congratulations to Mauro Bonfanti, Elena Berta, and the entire Team PoliTo H2Fly for your resilience during the event!
When things didn’t go as planned, collaboration was key. Following an electrical malfunction, we leveraged our extensive network, including Janusz Kutkowski (Canna Boats) and Johann Gocht (Greenboatsolutions), who managed to provide two batteries in record time, which Brice Lemaire (Technical Advisor, Arketyp Yachts) was able to pick up on his way to Monaco. The students then worked tirelessly to make the system work. These collaborative efforts towards the same goal made it possible for Louisa, their 100% electric catamaran, to still be able to go out on the water. Strengh in unity!
Thank you, Charlotte Mille, Szilard Czibere, and everyone involved from the Yacht Club de Monaco, for the fantastic organization.
Events like these, showcasing new technologies, innovative materials, and alternative propulsion systems, are crucial for reducing the yachting industry’s environmental impact in the future. Additionally, such events provide a wealth of experience for all participants.
Looking forward to next year’s Monaco Energy Boat Challenge.
