Arketyp Yachts, Artist Teuthis, and Team PoliTo H2Fly Raise Awareness at the 2024 Monaco Energy Boat Challenge
As explored in a previous article last April about the strength found in unity and the significance of collaboration for a sustainable future in yachting, we at Arketyp Yachts, where a commitment to environmental and social consciousness is ingrained in our DNA, take immense pride in supporting student initiatives shaping the future of yachting. Being selected as mentors for the skilled PoliTo H2Fly team from the Politecnico di Torino fills us with great honor. They are preparing to compete in the energy class of the forthcoming Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, organized by the Yacht Club de Monaco, scheduled from July 1st to July 6th, 2024.
For us, this partnership goes beyond simply providing technical advice; it embodies a sincere commitment to working together in harmony. It represents a shared vision and a mutual determination to combine our expertise and resources for the greater good.
We are delighted to announce our collaboration with the talented French artist Teuthis, based in Le Havre, France. Teuthis, whose name derives from the ancient Greek word for “squid,” has seamlessly integrated his passion for marine biology with his artistic aspirations since 2013. His work combines naturalist drawings with graphic creations, infused with ecological reflection and artistic flair. Each piece, meticulously crafted with accuracy, is then imbued with dynamism and depth through graphic treatment.
Teuthis generously offered the PoliTo H2Fly team the opportunity to select one of his artworks to adorn their competition vessel.
Their choice fell upon the Megaptera novaeangliae, commonly known as the humpback whale.
These majestic species, pivotal in marine ecosystems, can live up to 80 years and play crucial roles, including nutrient cycling, prey population regulation, and habitat structuring. Their significance extends to mitigating climate change by promoting phytoplankton growth, essential in absorbing CO2 from the atmosphere. Additionally, the sinking of whale carcasses to the ocean floor contributes to long-term carbon sequestration.
You can see Teuthis’ humpback whale artwork on the PoliTo H2Fly team’s 100% electric boat from July 3rd to July 6th in Monaco. Want to check it out? Just drop us a message at info@arketypyachts.com to schedule a visit.
